SCHOLARSHIP: Vinson and Elkins Scholarship
REQUIREMENTS: Eligible students must:
(1)
be a senior in the top 20 percent of his/her class at an Austin,
Dallas, or Houston-area high school accredited by the Texas Education
Agency;
(2) be a member of a racial/ethnic group which has been historically underrepresented in the legal profession (i.e. Asian, American Indian/Alaskan Native, Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander, or Multiracial/Two or More Races);
(2) be a member of a racial/ethnic group which has been historically underrepresented in the legal profession (i.e. Asian, American Indian/Alaskan Native, Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander, or Multiracial/Two or More Races);
(3) have a minimum of a combined Math/Reading Comprehension SAT score of 1650, or a composite ACT score of 24;
(4) demonstrate an interest in working in a law firm setting;
(5) have a financial need; and,
(6) a U.S. citizen, or a resident in the Houston, Dallas, Austin, or surrounding areas for seven continuous years
A complete application consists of the following materials submitted by April 17, 2015:
(1) A completed 2015 Vinson & Elkins Scholarship Application form;
(2) An essay (1000-1500 words) on your career goals (PDF), submitted as part of the application;
(3) A resume (PDF), submitted as part of the application;
(4) A recent professional photograph (JPG), submitted as part of the application
(5) Completed financial aid applications (PDF), submitted as part of the application, e-mailed to Kristen Killion or mailed to the V&E Scholarship Foundation (see address below)
(6) Two letters of recommendation, e-mailed to Kristen Killion or mailed to the V&E Scholarship Foundation
(7) An official high school transcript, e-mailed to Kristen Killion or mailed to the V&E Scholarship Foundation
(8) Your decision on which college to attend, e-mailed to Kristen Killion
